Julian got ready to leave the city. Even so, he still remembered the cracked tire swing, the smell of burnt sugar, and the lullaby. Now he understood that the memory belonged to his real childhood.
Mara gave the indigo jar back to Julian, or at least a way to keep the memory safe. Eli said the danger had passed for now. Nina told Julian that he could come back if he wanted more answers later.
Julian left the shop with a much clearer sense of who he was. He no longer thought the memory was impossible. He accepted that his life had two layers: the one he had always known, and the one that had been hidden in the city.
The main mystery was finally solved. The memory was no longer lost or confused with someone else’s life. Julian left the city changed, but at peace.
