Nina went through every reactor reading and every field-stabilizer record from the black hole experiment. She found that their energy field was making the opening stronger and more regular. Maya saw at once that their own experiment may have created the danger.
Lena approved a smaller test to see whether lowering the power would weaken the gate. Rafael pushed back, because the creatures could attack while they were testing it. Still, the team agreed to go on, since they needed a real solution.
When they ran the test, the gate flickered but did not close fully. On the far side, a creature noticed the change and moved toward the opening. The team understood then that the creatures were actively trying to get to Earth.
